Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does the hair need to be?
Hair length of approximately 4mm is optimal, or 2-3 weeks of growth. It is very important for the hair to be long enough in order to achieve a clean wax.

What do I need to do before I have my wax?
Avoid sunshine and tanning beds for 24 hours before hand and do not use greasy body lotion.

Can I wax when I am pregnant?
Yes, absolutely. It is even recommended as opposed to shaving to prevent injury.

Can I wax when I have my period?
Yes, technically it is not a problem as long as a fresh tampon is used.

How long should I leave it between waxes?
Unlike shaving, when you wax, you won't have to do it again until 3 to 6 weeks later. Hair growth does vary from person to person.

    Does it hurt?
The waxing sensation or pain varies from person to person. There are many factors to consider, and sensitive skin, sleep deprivation, stress and menstruation can heighten the pain. However the first waxing session is far less dramatic and each experience becomes more pleasant, since the hair grows thinner.

What is the difference between a Brazilian and Hollywood wax?
A Brazilian goes in further than a bikini and is the removal of the hair in the intimate area, including the labia and bum, a small strip of hair is left, the size and shape depend on your own personal preference. A Hollywood is the removal of all of the hair in this area including labia and bum.

Is it true that less hairs grows after each waxing?
It’s true, the hair already comes back finer and softer after the first waxing - and becomes substantially less over time. Why? Because the hair is removed with the folicle during waxing.

What should I avoid after waxing?
Avoid sunshine, tanning beds, greasy lotions, sweaty sports and swimming for 24 hours afterwards. Do not use deodorants after underarm wax or make up on a freshly waxed face.

Which areas of the body are the most sensitive and which the least?
That is relative. If legs, arms, and knees are waxed then you don’t feel much. But people are creatures of habit. Once you start, you will even ind Brazillian waxing harmless - partly because the hair gets thinner.

Can I wax if I have a genital piercings?
Piercings are technically ok, but should be removed for safety and in the interest of a perfect wax.

When is waxing absolutely not possible?
In principle, if you have injuries, wounds or irritation do not wax and leave the skin to heal. People with severe varicose veins are also advised against warm wax treatments. Scars should be at least six months old before waxing.

  • Do I need to book a consultation before my first session?
Yes - please see our laser section for more details and a consultation form.

Can I tan while having LED Laser Hair Removal treatment

    What is LED laser?
LED hair removal use high-power super-emitting LED array as a light source, crystal guide pyramid shaping and transmission of NIR beam, that act on the subcutaneous, melanin in hair follicle absorb heat, to achieve effective hair removal.
Zero are the first company in Ireland to use these cutting edge LED Laser technology. The NEXUS LED machine is designed specifically for the best hair removal results.

What makes it different to other lasers?
LED Laser Hair Removal does not generate excessive heat therefore allowing stronger pulses to be emitted and short gaps between sessions. Therefore achieving a successful result faster.

    How its works?
    (The sciencey bit)
Lasers penetrate deeper into tissues to specifically target hair structures. Alex 755nm, NdYAG1064nm and Diode 810nm penetrate approximately 4-5mm specifically design to target hair structures, while most IPL’s (Intense Pulsed Light) only target 2mm which is not deep enough to target these structures effectively.

    Is it permanent?
The results you achieve will be between 75% - 90%. effective. It is impossible to reach 100% hair removal with any laser treatment. Over the course of treatment your hair regrowth and will dramatically reduced - and we mean dramatically. What starts off as coarse and thick regrowth before you start will eventually become softer and lighter. You will have areas where the hair has completely disappeared and some areas with more sporadic regrowth. These hairs will be picked up on your subsequent top up treatments with waxing or laser. Your choice.
Top up laser hair removal treatments are recommended typically once or twice a year.

    Does it work for everyone?
Laser hair removal will work on hairs that contain dark pigment or melanin, laser has no effect on hairs that are blond, red, grey or white in colour as they don’t contain enough pigment for the laser to absorb and cause a change in the regrowth pattern. For these hairs we highly recommend waxing where much better results will be achieved.

How many sessions do I need?
This is all down to the individual. Our revolutionary NEXUS laser machine we can offer less sessions that are more powerful.
We recommend a course of 6 sessions per area.
After these sessions have been completed maintenance sessions are required, most people will need an average of 1-2 top-up sessions a year.
